A Fender USA Telecaster Custom has arrived.
Based on the serial number, pot date, and various specifications, we believe this guitar was made sometime between 1978 and 1980.
This guitar features a black finish and a maple neck.

Key Specifications and Materials
・Body: Ash (tends to be lightweight; total weight: 3.78 kg)
・Neck pickup: Original Wide-Range Humbucker (Fender Wide-Range Humbucker) equipped with “CuNiFe” magnets designed by Seth Lover; the date stamp on the baseplate is difficult to decipher due to age.
・Bridge pickup: Believed to be original, but confirmation is difficult because the mounting screws on the bridge assembly do not loosen easily... However, based on the characteristics of the pickup wiring, it is considered to be a pickup from that era.
・Pot dates: Neck pickup volume / 1377645 (CTS, Week 45 of 1976); Bridge pickup volume / 1377645 (CTS, Week 45 of 1976); Neck & bridge pickup tone: R1378021 (CTS, Week 21 of 1980). The volume pots have mixed shaft materials, resulting in differences in case shape.
・Capacitors: Orange Drop .022_200DC (printed with 80s-style font; the tone control pot may have been transplanted from a 1980 model)
・Control knobs: Replaced with Fender amp-style sombrero knobs (with indentations and no volume or tone markings); the one for the bridge pickup tone control is damaged, but since it’s genuine wear and tear rather than simulated damage, it looks really cool.
・Based on the shape and depth of the Fender engraving, the bridge assembly appears to be original.

Major Modifications
・Darkroom blacklight inspection: The frets were previously replaced with G-type frets, so they are currently on the lower side. Since it has a one-piece maple neck, the fingerboard surface has been over-lacquered; it also appears that the neck areas (excluding the headstock top) were over-lacquered at the same time the nut was replaced.

Overall Condition
It has been modified with replaced frets and a new nut.
Although this instrument is now 46 to 48 years old, considering its age, it is still in excellent “player’s condition” and fully playable.
There is significant dirt and paint degradation due to chemical changes throughout the instrument, as well as scratches and dents across the entire body, tarnish and deterioration on metal parts, signs of rust, and noticeable dents on the body side edges.

Condition Grade: B: Shows significant scratches and signs of use, but is suitable for normal use.

Other: Notes: There is woodwork on the bottom of the neck pickup cavity for mounting a G-style humbucker; the strap button mounting screws may have been replaced with flat-head Phillips screws.
