USED YAMAHA / SA-1200S Burgundy Red 1980 [10]

We’ve just received a 1980 SA-1200S from its first year of release!

We’ve received the 1200S from the SA Series (Super Axe Series), which was added to the lineup as a new product in 1980.
Although the finish is listed as “Burgundy Red,” it is not a metallic burgundy; rather, it is a deep, wine-red-purple hue with the wood grain showing through.
This particular guitar is an early model manufactured in 1980.
The date stamp on the pickup (a covered A-II humbucker) reads “54. 12. 1,” indicating that the pickup was manufactured on December 1, 1979 (Showa 54).
Like the SA-2000S—which was the top-of-the-line model in the SA series at the time—the SA-1200S features a solid spruce body.
The only differences from the SA-2000S are the striped ebony fingerboard, the type of pickup, the color of the hardware, and the position marks and headstock decorations; it can be considered to have potential equal to or greater than that of the SA-1000, far surpassing the SA-700 of that era.

Overall Condition
Blacklight inspection in a dark room: It looked almost too good to be true, so I suspected overspray on the topcoat, but it was difficult to determine for certain. Additionally, the control knobs and other knobs are in original condition. (The metal plate on the tone control knob is missing.)
Control Area: There are no irregularities in the solder work, and the wiring and electronic components (pots, capacitors, pickup selector, and jack) are in original condition and function well.
Frets: The original frets show no signs of severe wear; there are only very slight traces of minor wear.
Appearance: The finish has developed a milky haze across the entire surface, resulting in a creamy patina due to aging. While there are no conspicuous, large scratches, there are fine scratches throughout the body consistent with 46 years of use. These are particularly numerous on the pickguard; however, the guitar is in such pristine condition that we would be grateful if you could purchase it before any damage occurs from display or trial play.

Condition Grade: B+: Some scratches are present, but the instrument is suitable for normal use.
