The History Premium Series—the brand’s top-tier line—blends the sound inspired by legendary instruments of yesteryear with modern playability. Each instrument in this high-end series is handcrafted one at a time at Tsubasa Guitar Workshop, which is highly acclaimed for its vintage-style instrument craftsmanship.
It features a classic configuration combining a two-piece alder body with a maple neck and an Indian rosewood fingerboard. The body and neck are finished with an all-lacquer coating that brings out a rich resonance and harmonics, recreating the deep color of Lake Placid Blue as if it had yellowed over many years of aging. Paired with a tortoiseshell-patterned pickguard, it is finished in a striking vintage style.
The fingerboard features a compound radius. The C-shaped neck, which tapers slightly toward the treble end, and the Easy Access Joint Type I with its bold heel cut ensure a natural grip and smooth position changes.High-quality parts are used even in the finest details, including a custom-made titanium joint plate by KTS, nickel frets by JESCAR, an unbleached cowbone nut, and GOTOH tuning machines.
The pickups are the HSC-JV/n and HSC-JVb, which were tuned for the modern music scene based on vintage bass sound data. The controls feature a classic 2-volume, 1-tone configuration. The front pickup delivers warm, full-bodied mid-low frequencies; the rear pickup offers tight definition and a punchy, resilient tone; and the mix setting provides a well-defined, classic JB-style sound.
This model has been treated with an “aged” finish right from the factory to replicate weather checking, paint chipping, and the patina of metal parts. As a result, it can be difficult to distinguish between the factory finish and scratches or signs of wear that have developed over time; however, it shows very little actual wear and is in excellent condition, ready for heavy use.
Based on the style and sound of vintage basses, this is a handmade model crafted with great care by History, featuring a compound radius and a unique neck joint that provide modern playability.
