The original Yamaha FG headstock shape features a tuning fork-inspired logo. The truss rod cover is engraved with "Since 1966," signifying the origins of Yamaha guitars.

The top employs solid Sitka spruce treated with A.R.E. This achieves a rich resonance reminiscent of a well-played instrument despite being new, combined with powerful resonance from the warm mid-to-low frequencies characteristic of mahogany. The cohesive sound is ideal for chord strumming or rhythmic fingerstyle playing.

The sides and back are solid mahogany, delivering the characteristic warm, rich midrange of mahogany.

To achieve the ideal warm tone, we combined virtual prototyping using the latest acoustic analysis simulation technology with physical prototyping through woodworking, refining the design through repeated improvements. Compared to the scalloped bracing used in the FG/FS#800 series, we optimized it according to the wood's inherent characteristics and the specific FG and FS models, achieving further expansion of the low end.

The top features Yamaha's proprietary Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.). By precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and air pressure, it rapidly induces changes similar to those occurring in wood over many years after cutting. This enhances sound transmission and vibration efficiency, promoting extended mid-to-low frequencies, increasing high-frequency attack, and accelerating decay.The A.R.E. treatment yields a well-balanced, mature, warm sound with fewer harsh overtones, creating a tone reminiscent of a guitar played for years.
