The Fender Japan ST62-US is a popular model that recreates classic early-60s specifications, such as a slab-jointed rosewood fingerboard and a small headstock. This particular instrument was manufactured in 2012 (JD serial number / Made in Japan) and is a model from the Dyna Gakki era, highly regarded for its playability and consistent quality.

As a high-end model equipped with original USA-made pickups, it delivers a vintage-style Stratocaster sound characterized by crisp, clear highs and a cohesive midrange. Its excellent separation stands out not only in clean tones but also with light overdrive, resulting in a well-balanced instrument that’s easy to play across all genres.

The electronics have been upgraded: the selector switch is by CRL, the pots are by CTS, and the jack is by Switchcraft. It features a CDE 716P capacitor, and the wiring has been changed to vinyl wire. The fact that these upgrades are all focused on practicality is a key highlight.

While maintaining a 1962-style appearance, this is a practical, battle-tested instrument with upgraded electronics.
