A rare 1980 Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe Gold Top featuring P-90 pickups and an ebony fingerboard.

Based on the Les Paul Deluxe but equipped with P-90 pickups instead of mini-humbuckers, the Pro Deluxe is a distinctive model that combines a thick, rich midrange with the clear response characteristic of single-coil pickups. In addition to the classic Gold Top look, its specifications—including an ebony fingerboard and a three-piece neck—give it a charm distinct from Les Paul Deluxe models of the same era.

Based on its serial number, this guitar is confirmed to have been manufactured in 1980. The P-90 pickups are clear-bobbin, wire-shielded types, offering the characteristic power and rich harmonics of the P-90. When played through distortion, it delivers a tone with a solid core and excellent sustain—retaining a moderate roughness while still conveying the characteristic thickness and sweetness of a Les Paul.

Featuring the three-piece neck characteristic of the Norlin-era Gibson, this is a guitar with the unique presence typical of vintage Gibsons.
Even among the rare Les Paul Pro Deluxe models equipped with P-90 pickups, this one stands out with its striking Gold Top finish, offering a distinct character and sound that sets it apart from the standard Les Paul Deluxe.

The volume pot is a CTS pot (date: 1378013) that matches the year of manufacture.
The tone pots appear to have been replaced, as indicated by the dates (R1379429, R1379322).
To preserve the original parts, the volume pot—which showed signs of scratching—has been cleaned only. Due to age-related wear, there is currently some slight scratching present.
The back of the neck has been treated with Relaxer.

Weather checking is visible on the back of the neck and parts of the body. There are numerous scratches on the back of the body, and several dents on the top of the body.
There is a crack in the binding. Additionally, scratches, dents, and rust or tarnish on the metal parts are visible throughout the instrument, giving it a vintage-like character.
Additionally, there is a lingering odor from the case, likely caused by storage conditions.
One of the locks on the included case is loose.

There are no noticeable issues with the neck, and it is in good playing condition.
