A Powerful, Full-Sounding Flagship from the Western Era

This is a 1981 Guild D-55. It was crafted during the Westley factory era and was positioned as the top-of-the-line model among the company’s flat-top guitars at the time.

It features a Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood sides and back, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. The high rigidity achieved through non-scalloped X-bracing is also a hallmark of this era.

The low end is tight yet full-bodied, while the high end delivers a clear tone with a quick attack. When strummed, it produces a powerful, full-bodied sound, and even in arpeggios, you can feel the well-defined tone and depth.

This guitar offers a robust, classic Guild sound—a blend of the depth of tone gained through aging and the solid craftsmanship of the era.
Weather checking is visible throughout, and there are numerous signs of wear, including scratches and dents.
Since some frets were lifting, we’ve corrected them and re-leveled the fretboard.
It is currently in good playing condition.
