Based on the highly popular 1968 Les Paul Custom, this model recreates the condition of a guitar that has been carefully stored in its case, featuring a combination of light weather checking and lightly aged hardware.

Although the Les Paul evolved into the Les Paul SG in 1961, making the SG Gibson’s main solid-body guitar of the 1960s, growing demand for the Les Paul’s return—fueled by its use by renowned guitarists—led to its reintroduction in 1968.

This instrument is a reissue model that recreates the specifications from that very first year of the revival!

While the 1950s Custom featured a mahogany body, the reissued Custom model was redesigned with a two-piece maple top and mahogany back body, similar to the 1950s Burst models.

The mahogany neck is finished in the “Authentic ’68 Medium C-Shape”—a profile that should suit many players—and, of course, features an ebony fingerboard!

It’s equipped with Kluson VX-501 tuners, commonly known as “Waffleback.”
With two “’68 Custom Humbuckers” mounted and featuring Black Beauty capacitors, this guitar is a delightful recreation down to the finest details!
