皆さんは日本にもtriangleが存在したことを知っていますか？アメリカでtriangleというファズが生まれたことは「GRUFF」で紹介しました。当時、著名なアーティストが使用していた本家triangleをコピー大国であった日本が見逃すはずはありません。当然のようにコピー商品が量産されました。これは回路をみても本家triangleを模したことは明らかです。この時代のクローンにはよくあることですが、使用されているパーツの種類はバラバラ、基板も様々なバージョンがある。そして...個体によって音が違う！！もうカオスです。
そんな和製triangleを5台購入したうえ、10台以上と比較して一番好きな個体をリファレンスとして制作したのが「ELF FUZZ SUSTAINER」です。かなり昔の話ですが、この時期は友人と買い漁っていたのでオークションやショップに並ぶ個体の多くが見覚えのある個体ばかりでした。それくらい買い漁っていました(笑)
さて肝心のサウンドですが、リファレンスにしている個体は本家と比べるとGAINが低い(とはいっても十分歪む)。それにより輪郭がはっきりしています。特に低音はハンマーで打ったようなインパクトがこの個体の特徴と言えます。ベースで使用される方にもお勧めしています。GRUFFはファズ然とした毛羽立ちを感じるサウンドですが、ELFは音の束が正面に打ち出されたストレートなサウンドと言えます。

○トランジスタは実際に和製triangleに使用された「2SA495」。シルクハットと呼ばれる形状の古いタイプ
○コンデンサはディスク型セラミックコンデンサ。とても古いパーツ

Did you know that triangle existed in Japan? We introduced in "GRUFF" the birth of the "triangle" fuzz in the United States. Japan was a copying powerhouse, and there was no way that Japan could have overlooked the original triangle, which was used by many famous artists at the time. As a matter of course, copies of the original triangle were mass-produced. It is clear from the circuitry that this product was made in imitation of the original triangle. As is often the case with clones of this era, there were different types of parts used and various versions of the circuit board. And... The sound differs from individual to individual! It is already chaos.
I purchased 5 such Japanese triangles, compared them with more than 10 units, and created the "ELF FUZZ SUSTAINER" as a reference for the one I liked the best. It was quite a long time ago, but during this period, I was buying and buying with my friends, so many of the pieces lined up at auctions and stores were pieces that I recognized. I was buying so many of them.
Now, the sound is important. The reference model has a lower GAIN than the original (although it is distorted enough). This makes the contours of the sound clearer. The bass in particular has a hammering impact, which can be said to be a characteristic of this unit. The GRUFF has a fuzzy, fuzzy sound, while the ELF is a straight sound with a bunch of notes being hit out the front.
The ELF FUZZ SUSTAINER is my first pedal for RoShi Pedals and has been used by many artists. Please experience it for yourself!
