We are pleased to announce the arrival of a very nice sounding Custom Shop D-28, made in 2009, based on the regular one of the time, with the logo changed from gold leaf to decal logo and the pickguard changed from black to beveled edge tortoiseshell pattern. It features a low profile neck with 42.9mm nut width, non-scalloped, non-forward shift top brace, and Grover Rotomatic. The top material is 3/4 grade Sitka spruce, which was the regular equivalent at the time, but it has a great sound comparable to premium grade.

There is a 3cm x 5mm ding on the left shoulder of the top with paint peeling, multiple paint peels on the binding, and many other dings, scratches, abrasions, picking marks, paint wear and fogging. The satin paint on the back of the neck is partially scratched, and metal parts are rusted and tarnished. There are some minor weather checks throughout the top of the instrument, which gives it a vintage look, along with the aged, candy-colored paint.
Our repair department has refretted the guitar, corrected the fingerboard, ironed the neck, and repaired the bridge and bracing. The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod has been confirmed to operate at 60 degrees left and right. However, the direction of tightening is a little tight. The neck has been properly repaired and adjusted, so playability is perfect.
Although it has some signs of use, it has grown up reasonably well, and as mentioned above, the sound is excellent. While it has the torque of non-scalloped bracing, it is soft and supple, and has a well-balanced sound with a rich volume but not too loud bass. This is one that we recommend.
