Designed with the same philosophy as the flagship “FG/FS9” model, the “FS7MX” is a high-end Japanese-made model, meticulously handcrafted at the Hamamatsu factory in Shizuoka Prefecture for all musicians—from singer-songwriters to performers of all genres.

Boasting excellent sound separation and responsiveness, it features a concert-style body ideal for fingerpicking, a solid Sitka spruce top that excels at balancing clarity and power, and solid African mahogany sides and back that produce warm mids and a light, rounded resonance.
In addition to the scalloped X-bracing pattern—specifically designed using Yamaha’s unique “Acoustic Design” approach, which fuses scientific analysis with skilled craftsmanship—the guitar features a thicker back construction to enhance the power of the sound emanating from the entire body.Furthermore, the use of a traditional dovetail joint at the neck joint highlights a light, resonant tone from the neck to the body—distinct from that of the flagship FG/FS9 models—along with high-quality sustain and harmonics that are pleasing to the ear.

It features a slightly rounded V-shaped mahogany neck that offers a comfortable grip and enables smooth playing, paired with an ebony fingerboard that delivers a clear attack and high-precision Gotoh open-gear tuners (SXN510 Cosmo Black).
The design embodies a distinctly “Japanese” aesthetic throughout, with meticulous attention to detail evident in elements such as the washi paper inner label, shimenawa-style rope-pattern purfling, and position marks inspired by traditional Japanese wood joinery.
The electronics feature the highly acclaimed “Atmosfeel (SYSTEM74)” 3-way pickup system. By combining a piezo pickup, a microphone, and a contact sensor, it faithfully reproduces the guitar’s natural acoustic sound and body resonance for line output.
