One that has it all: wildness, deadness, and jerkiness."

As its name, which pays homage to the American South, suggests, the Southern Jumbo was first introduced as a model for country and blues music. Today, it is used not only in Americana, but also in a wide range of genres such as rock and pop. This particular guitar is a Southern Jumbo made in 1955. This is one of the first model with large pickguard and 20 frets. The nut width is about 43mm, and the neck is not so thick.
There are some dents, scratches, weather checks, and peeling paint, and there is some fogging on the pickguard near the side of the body. There are no cracks or crack repair marks. There is a long scratch on the treble string side of the back, but it is on the paint film. There is a long scratch on the back on the treble string side, but it is just on the paint film. The back seems to have been partially over-lacquered and there are traces of touch-up. The pegs have been replaced with metal knobs of the Cruson type.
The neck angle was adjusted, refretted, nut height was adjusted with shims, a new saddle was made, and the binding on the first string side of the neck was repaired at our affiliated repair store. Both playability and sound are perfect. The truss rod still has more than 60 degrees of leeway in the tightening direction.
When tuned from the 6th string, you can expect to hear a thumping bass sound. When you play a chord, you will find that this is truly a vintage Gibson acoustic. The resonance is thick and dry with a "jingling-jingling" sound. It also has tenacity and will follow lead work. The wild sound is truly that of the American South. The sound is very southern, and the player can express himself in a variety of ways, from strong and dynamic when played forcefully to simple and simple when played gently. This is a gem that we recommend with confidence. Don't miss it.
Comes with the current hard case of the original collection series.
