Ovation Collector's Series 1986 Model

Ovation's Collector's Series started in 1982. Each year, a special edition guitar was released in limited production. This is the 1986 model, which marks the 20th anniversary of Ovation's founding. It features a Super Shallow body with cream-colored top, colorful lame on the reel cord, sunglasses inlays on the fingerboard and inlays representing the 1986 model, and the acclaimed OP-24 preamp.
The top is well burnished, and the color is more yellow than cream, but this is a tasteful touch. It seems that there were some square stickers or something attached around the sound hole in the past, and there are some marks where the stickers were removed. There are some dents and scratches, but they are not noticeable, and the top is not distorted or cracked, as is often seen with Ovation products in the past. The fretboard on the body is slightly splayed and the gap between the fretboard and the top is a bit noticeable, but no sound jamming is felt.
The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod has been confirmed to operate at 60 degrees left and right, but there is not much room for tightening. The frets have been re-fretted (a little rough). The current height is low (about 60%), but it has been rubbed together and does not interfere with playing. The saddle height is low and comes with two shims for height adjustment.
Although the OP-24 plinth is popular, it is not repairable, but this one can be used without any stress without any galling. However, it should be approaching the end of its service life by the minute. Do not expect too much. The electrical system is not covered by warranty. Please understand this. The hard case that comes with the instrument is a generic, non-genuine case.
Overall, we can say that the instrument is in good condition for a used Ovation instrument. We recommend it.

「コレクターズ・シリーズ1986年モデル」

1982年よりスタートしたオベーションのコレクターズ・シリーズ。毎年限定生産で特別仕様のギターが発表されました。こちらはオベーションの創業20周年にあたる1986年のモデル。クリーム・カラーのトップのスーパー・シャロウ・ボディをフィーチャーし、リラコードにはカラフルなラメが、指板にはサングラス・インレイと1986年モデルを表すインレイが施され、定評あるOP-24プリアンプが搭載されています。
トップは良く焼けておりクリームというよりイエローと呼ぶべき色味になっていますが、これはこれで味わいがあります。サウンド・ホール周囲ニ箇所に四角いステッカーか何かが過去に貼られていたようで、剥がした痕が残っています。打痕、擦り傷が確認できますが目立つものではなく、かつてのオベーション製品に見られがちなトップの歪みやクラックの発生はなく、年式の割には綺麗な外観を保っています。ボディ上の指板が若干はね気味でトップとの間の隙間が少々目立ちますが、音づまりは感じられません。
ネックの状態は適正で、トラス・ロッドは左右60度の動作確認済ですが、締め方向の余裕は少なめです。フレットは打ち直しされた形跡があります(少々仕上げが荒いです)。現在の高さは低め(6割程度)ですが擦り合せがなされており、演奏に支障はありません。サドルの高さは低めで、高さ調整用のシムが2枚付属しています。
人気があるものの修理ができないのが悩ましいOP-24プリンプですが、当個体の物は現状ガリなどの発生はなくストレスなく使用できます。とはいえ、刻一刻と寿命が近づいているはずです。過度な期待は禁物。電装系は保証対象外とさせていただいております。ご了承くださいませ。なお付属するハード・ケースは非純正の汎用品となります。
総合的に見て、オベーションの中古品としてはまずまずの状態を維持していると言えます。お勧めの一本です。
