The ROSS brand was established in the U.S.A. by a company called Keas Electronics, and many of you have probably heard the name ROSS/COMPRESSOR at least once.
It is no exaggeration to say that ROSS compressors, which were extremely popular like MXR DynaComp, are the origin of modern compressors. Incidentally, it is a well-known story that the ROSS brand name "ROSS" comes from the owner, Bud Ross.

ROSS/COMPRESSOR was born in 1978. Even at that time, it was a compressor with a gray-colored chassis and a unique atmosphere. The first models had SUSTAIN and OUTPUT controls, and there were only a few of them, so their value as a vintage compressor has increased. Although it has a little bit of a crackling sound compared to other compressors, it is characterized by a very natural effect.

This is an early model of SUSTAIN. The operational amplifier is an RCA CA3080E. The controls are labeled "SUSTAIN" and "OUTPUT," and it is believed to be the first model made in 1978.

Keas Electronicsという会社が母体となり、USAで設立したROSSブランド。ROSS/COMPRESSORと言えば一度は名前を聞いたことある方も多いのではないでしょうか？
MXR DynaCompと同様に絶大な人気があったROSS コンプレッサーは現代のコンプレッサーの元になっているといっても過言ではございません。ちなみにROSSブランドのROSSはオーナーのBud Ross氏からきているというのが有名な話です。

ROSS/COMPRESSORが生まれたのは1978年でございます。当時からグレイカラーの筐体で独特の雰囲気を持ったコンプレッサーでした。最初期のモデルはコントロール部分がSUSTAINとOUTPUTになっていて数も少なく、ヴィンテージとしての価値が上がっています。他のコンプに比べ若干パコパコ感はでるものの非常にナチュラルな掛かりが特徴です。

本機はその初期のモデルでございます。オペアンプにはRCA CA3080Eを搭載。コントロール部分の表記がSUSTAINとOUTPUTになっており、1978年製、最初期のものと思われます。
