The Skreddy Pedals Martian Tarantula is a pedal that produces one of the earliest fuzz tones. It sounds intense, but it is actually easy to use and has a commanding tone.

It is based on the early fuzz pedals known as "MkII" and "Supa," which became the model for many fuzz pedals. The original models are rare and expensive, and each one sounds different.
However, its potential is still there, with a bright sustain sound in the high frequencies, a fuzz-like tone, and excellent chord separation.

For the Martian Tarantula, we designed it with silicon transistors to ensure temperature sensitivity and unit consistency. Despite being a silicon transistor, Skreddy Pedals has tuned this pedal to sound like a germanium transistor.
It is biased and stable, but in the process we have tuned it to sound a little "broken". This makes the pedal very interesting and fun to use.

The "ATTACK" and "FILTER" knobs on the original circuit were controls that cut out the signal when turned down, rather than actually turning down the gain. Skreddy Pedals has changed that and made it more manageable. But it is still not just a gain control, so we named it OVERLOAD.

The OVERLOAD knob converts the sound into three voicing variations. Fully up, the tone is fat and fuzz-like, with a slight "SAG".
In the middle, the tone is balanced and tight.
Turned down, it is dry, gated, and slightly cold biased.

And it has the right amount of guitar volume and responsiveness to clean up.

Skreddy Pedals Martian Tarantulaは、最初期のファズトーンを生み出すペダルです。激しく聞こえますが、実は使いやすく、威厳のある音色です。

多くのファズペダルのお手本となった“MkII”や“Supa”などの名前で知られる初期のファズペダルをベースとしています。オリジナルモデルは希少で高価、しかも1台1台すべてサウンドが異なります。
しかし、そのポテンシャルは高域では明るいサステインサウンドを持ち、ファズらしい音色でありながら優れたコードの分離も備えています。

Martian Tarantulaでは、温度感度やユニットの一貫性を確保するため、シリコントランジスタを用いて設計しました。シリコントランジスタでありながら、Skreddy Pedalsはこのペダルをゲルマニウムトランジスタのような音色にチューニングしています。
バイアスがかかって安定していますが、そのプロセスで少しだけ“壊れている”ように聞こえるように調整しました。そのため、このペダルはとても興味深く楽しいものになりました。

オリジナル回路の“ATTACK”“FILTER”と呼ばれるノブは、実際にゲインを下げるのではなく、下げたときにシグナルをカットアウトするコントロールでした。Skreddy Pedalsではそれを変更し、より扱いやすく調整しました。それでもただのゲインコントロールではありませんので、OVERLOADと名付けました。

OVERLOADノブはサウンドを3つボイシングバリエーションに変換します。フルアップではファットでファズらしいトーンで、ほんの少し“SAG”がかかります。
中央ではバランスが取れたタイトなトーンです。
下げるとドライでゲートがあり、わずかにコールドバイアスとなります。

そして適切な量のギターボリュームと、クリーンアップできる応答性を備えています。
