The highly popular 1959 ES-175D reissue has arrived!

The ES-175 series debuted in 1949.
Featuring a 16-inch body and a fully acoustic construction, it was originally equipped with a single newly developed P-90 pickup. However, as its popularity grew, in 1953, two P-90 pickups were added along with a 2-Volume/2-Tone/3-Way selector switch, and the model was renamed from “Dual Pickups” to “ES-175D.”
In 1957, the specifications were updated to include the newly developed PU-490 humbucker, further boosting its popularity.

This instrument is a 1959 ES-175D manufactured by Gibson Memphis, a separate division that spun off from the Gibson Custom Shop in 2013 to focus primarily on cabinet production. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Mike Voltz, who served as head of the R&D (Research and Development) department at Gibson Memphis, this model faithfully reproduces the vintage ES-175 down to the finest details.

The deep-body design features a 16-inch body made of maple/poplar/maple laminate, paired with a solid mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard.It incorporates specifications found in the current Historic Collection, such as glue-in neck and body joints and a tubular truss rod, and features a full-acoustic construction without a center block. Its rich, mellow sound is precisely why it has become a favorite among jazz guitarists.

The headstock features the Gibson logo and a crown inlay, and is equipped with Kluson Single Line/Single Ring tuners.
It features a Medium C neck profile with just the right thickness that fits comfortably in the hand, a joint at the 14th fret, 20 Medium Jumbo frets, and double parallelogram inlays.

The body, with 3-ply binding on the top and 1-ply binding on the back, is equipped with two of the legendary “MHS pickups” and features a 2-Volume/2-Tone/3-Way Selector control layout.
The bridge is an adjustable rosewood bridge, and the tailpiece is the so-called “zigzag tailpiece.”
Please note that, similar to vintage models, this tailpiece is less durable than later trapeze-style tailpieces and may break; however, this is not covered under warranty.

The finish is “Natural,” which was slightly more expensive than “Sunburst” at the time, giving this guitar a beautiful, elegant appearance.

While there are some scratches and minor dents from use, it remains in relatively good condition; approximately 80% of the frets remain, and we have confirmed that the truss rod turns 60 degrees in both directions. Only the nut has been replaced.
