USED Spector / Pre-Kramer 1984 NS-2JA Black [05]

This is an NS-2J from the pre-Claimer era, formerly owned by PJ Rubal, and it’s in excellent condition.
It features the specifications of the legendary NS-2J—which was the envy of many players, especially in Japan—including a bolt-on neck, JJ pickup layout, BADDAS I, dot inlays, and a black finish. It is identical to the model famously used by Tsugutoshi Goto, who left behind many iconic performances.
This particular guitar has some distinctive features.
The EMG JJ pickups are, of course, the original Caramel Back models, but the front pickup is an “SJ5” with a short housing—the same as the 4-string front pickup—
single-bar magnet and the narrow pitch typical of the 1980s—a design likely intended to prevent a drop in volume on the third string when playing with a five-string set.
The rear pickup is a standard “SJ” short-housing J-style split coil; it’s likely that this mix was unintentional and occurred during manufacturing.
There are no significant differences in sound.

The quick attack is characteristic of a bolt-on design, and the fact that Specter simultaneously offered a model with a completely different character—
It is a fascinating part of Specter’s sales strategy history that they simultaneously offered both models in their lineup.
The serial number is not stamped on the back of the headstock but is handwritten in the truss rod slot.
There is no stamping on the joint plate.

Currently, there are no issues with the electronics, and the fretboard is in good condition, making this a fine instrument that plays smoothly.
