USED Gibson / 1974-75 Howard Roberts Custom Wine Red [05]

We have received a Gibson Howard Roberts Custom from the 1970s.

Howard Roberts left behind numerous legendary performances as a jazz and session guitarist.
In the 1960s, his signature model was released by Epiphone, and he switched to Gibson in the 1970s.

Including this Custom model, there were four different models available at the time, reflecting the significant effort Gibson put into promoting them.
Production of the Custom began in 1973, and based on its serial number, the guitar we have in stock was manufactured between 1974 and 1975.

The laminated maple body is 3¼ inches thick and 16 inches wide, making it easy to hold.
The neck is a three-piece maple, a design common to many models of the 1970s. The volute on the back of the headstock also evokes the era.
It features Schaller keystone-style tuners mounted on the headstock, stamped with the Gibson logo.

The headstock features luxurious flower inlays, and the position marks have a unique shape.
The soundhole is a slightly smaller oval shape, and the tailpiece is an original style engraved with the words "Howard Roberts."
A tailpiece similar in style to the Trini Lopez model is also fitted here.

The most distinctive feature of this model is its controls.
It features an unusual configuration of one pickup mounted at the neck end, paired with one volume and two tone controls.
Each tone control functions differently, allowing the player to fine-tune the sound.

There are signs that the tuning pegs were once replaced with a different type.
Overall, there are signs of wear appropriate for its age, such as scratches, dents, and cracks in the finish; however, it has been inspected and fully adjusted by a professional technician since its arrival, and it is in excellent playing condition.

The original pickguard is included.
