The Stingray is synonymous with active bass.
The rounded body shape and distinctive pickguard are the hallmarks of this Leo Fender masterpiece, which combines parallel-wired humbucking pickups with active circuitry. The one we have just received is believed to be from the first half of the 1980's. The neck is 78 years old, and the body is body-dated.
The neck is dated 78, the body is dated 80, and the pot is dated 79, so the year is different, but the marks on the pocket surface are consistent.
The neck side is older than the body date, so we believe it is original and has not been replaced due to a defective neck.

The sound is strong without feeling the age of the instrument, and is as good as modern electric basses.

The frets and nut have been replaced and the fingerboard has been refinished.
There are some dents and other signs of use, but the main parts are still original and in good condition considering the age of the instrument.
