The “Murphy Lab Collection Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged,” a faithful reproduction of a pre-war model manufactured in 2025, has arrived!!

The “Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged” features a rosewood back with three rope-pattern marquetry inlays, rosewood sides, and a thermally aged red spruce top. The top is reinforced with traditional scalloped X-bracing (also made of red spruce).

Like the original, the Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged is highly ornate, with multi-layer binding on the top, back, and headstock. The 25.5-inch scale, two-piece AAA maple neck features a walnut stringer.

The neck features a D-shaped profile, and the back of the headstock incorporates the Stinger headstock design. The front of the headstock is adorned with a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and crown inlay, and it is equipped with gold Grover Imperial tuners.

The bound ebony fingerboard features a mother-of-pearl crown inlay and is fitted with 20 frets.The nut, saddle, and bridge pins are made of bone. The ebony SJ-200 Four-Bar Master Shubri Bridge features mother-of-pearl inlays. The tortoiseshell-patterned SJ-200 pickguard features a design with multicolored dots and double outlining.

As the model name suggests, the Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged has been treated with a light aging process by Murphy Lab’s skilled luthiers. Murphy Lab’s light aged finish, combined with the lightly aged hardware, recreates the subtle signs of wear that would result from decades of use by a player.

Since this is an aged product, it’s difficult to assess its condition, but there are virtually no signs of wear, and it’s in condition that could be described as “like new.”
