The Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue 3PU Bigsby Light Aged Ebony has arrived as a used item!!

Serial No.: 7515333; this guitar was manufactured in 2025.

The Les Paul Custom was released in 1954 as the top-of-the-line Les Paul model. Since many Les Paul players at the time wore tuxedos, the guitar featured a black ebony finish to make their hands stand out, along with gold hardware and an ebony fingerboard for a more refined and elegant look.

In 1957, the pickups were changed from P-90s to humbuckers, and it became possible to optionally equip the guitar with three pickups or a Bigsby tremolo.

This Historic Collection 1957 Les Paul Custom has been given a “Light Aged” finish by the artisans at Murphy Lab. It features a solid mahogany body and neck with an ebony fingerboard. The neck is set using hide glue and a long tenon (Deep Joint) construction.

The headstock features Kluson 501VX tuners—commonly known as “Wafflebacks”—and a truss rod cover engraved with “Les Paul CUSTOM.” It also boasts diamond inlays and five-layer multi-binding, hallmarks of the top-of-the-line model. The bound neck features block inlays made of mother-of-pearl and features a “50s Rounded Medium C” profile with just the right thickness for a satisfying grip.

It is equipped with three “Custombucker Alnico 3 (Unpotted)” pickups, which reproduce the mellow sound of vintage PAFs, along with CTS pots featuring a vintage curve and Black Beauty replica capacitors.

Due to the aged finish, it’s difficult to assess the level of wear, but it shows no signs of heavy use and remains in excellent condition. Of course, playability is also excellent.
