A 1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top Mod has arrived!!

The guitar we’ve just received is a 1972 model with serial number 612895 and pot date 1377211. It’s a modified Deluxe model featuring P90 pickups.

This guitar features a pancake-style body, a 3-piece mahogany neck with a volute, and a rosewood fingerboard. A distinctive feature of the logo is that the “O” is unbroken.

The pickups include a clear-bobbin P90 in the front position and, likely, a vintage P90 in the bridge position. Height adjustment is achieved by inserting rubber shims beneath the pickups. The pickup covers feature the embossed logo typical of that era.

There is one 1377211 pot; the others are hidden by solder but are believed to be original. The Sprag Black Beauty is also an original from this era.

Other modifications include a replacement nut and frets, new tuning pegs (with traces of previous peg holes), a replacement jack plate, a new jack, a replacement tailpiece, a truss rod cover, and a replacement toggle switch plate. The pickguard is missing. Additionally, the bridge support on the 1st string side is embedded lower than the other. The strap pins have been relocated.

There are hole marks on the backplate, indicating that some kind of switch was once attached there.

The finish on the back of the neck appears to have peeled off slightly, giving it a satin-like feel, but it has blended in well and does not look out of place. As for the condition, there is some discoloration of the gold finish, as well as dents and scratches; however, the truss rod functions properly, and playability is good.

It weighs 4.08 kg, which is relatively light for a guitar of this era. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to consider purchasing it.
