A 1965 Epiphone E230TD Sunburst has arrived!!

This 1965 model features Pot Date: 1376505 and Serial No.: 281289. It’s a highly sought-after model, made famous by John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles.

It features a 16-inch-wide, fully hollow laminated maple body, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. The sunburst finish has faded to a royal tan color, which is a beautiful detail that evokes a sense of history.

With a neck width of approximately 41.6 mm and a headstock angle of 14 degrees, this is a typical example of the transitional period. It is also characterized by a relatively thick, solid neck shape. Additionally, this guitar features a rare “Stinger” headstock. Since there are no signs of a broken neck or repainted finish, we believe it was originally equipped with the Stinger headstock. Although the serial number is difficult to see, one that matches the label is visible.

The pickups are two original P90s. The pots are original from 1965, and the capacitor is also original—a Sprague “Black Beauty.” The jacks, switches, and knobs are all original as well, making this a highly authentic instrument.

The bridge is an original ABR-1, and the tailpiece is also original, though there are signs that it was once replaced with a Branco tailpiece, as evidenced by additional screw holes at the body end. * The Branco tailpiece is included (it is a generic part).

The frets have been replaced, but the nut is original. The nut has a small chip, but it does not currently affect playability. Additionally, while there is some slight crackling from the pots, it is minimal, so they have been left in their original condition.

While there are some scratches and dents commensurate with its age, playability is excellent, and this is a truly attractive instrument. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to consider it.
