The FG/FS7 is a guitar designed with the same philosophy as the flagship FG/FS9 model, making it ideal for singer-songwriters.

The FS7RX features a concert-style body shape that produces a responsive and balanced sound, highlighting delicate, detailed single notes. The top is crafted from Sitka spruce solid wood, which offers an excellent balance of clarity and power, while the back and sides are made of solid Indian rosewood, producing deep bass and rich overtones.
Furthermore, it features a scalloped X-bracing pattern redesigned exclusively for the FG/FS7 series using Yamaha’s unique “Acoustic Design” approach—a fusion of scientific analysis and skilled craftsmanship—and the back is designed to be thicker to enhance the power of the sound emanating from the entire body.
By employing a traditional dovetail joint for the neck, the FG/FS7 offers a light, resonant tone from the neck to the body—distinct from the flagship FG/FS9—with a pleasant sustain and harmonics that are easy on the ear.
The design, which exudes an overall sense of “Japanese authenticity,” faithfully follows the FG/FS9 concept; while maintaining simplicity, it showcases the meticulous attention to detail expected of a high-end model.
Design elements rooted in Japanese culture are scattered throughout the details, such as an inner label made of washi paper, shimenawa-style purfling, and unique position marks inspired by traditional Japanese wood joinery.

Atmosfeel Pickup System
The Atmosfeel 3-Way Pickup System reproduces the guitar’s tonal components—which conventional pickups could not capture—with natural nuance.A piezo sensor under the saddle captures the vibration of the strings; a condenser microphone mounted inside the body captures the resonance within the guitar’s body; and a contact sensor pickup—made of thin, durable piezoelectric synthetic paper affixed to the back of the top—captures the high frequencies generated by the top’s vibration. By combining these three sounds, the system faithfully reproduces the guitar’s natural acoustic sound in its entirety.
You can shape your sound simply by adjusting the three knobs on the side of the body. Use the Master Volume to fine-tune subtle tonal nuances, and the Mic Blend to add body resonance. The Bass EQ allows you to adjust the peak frequency; whether you need to cut low frequencies for a band setting or want to reinforce the low end for fingerstyle playing, adjusting the center frequency band to suit your specific use case ensures confident sound shaping.
