We’ve just received a 2022 “2017 Limited Edition Black Roasted Dual-Mag Stratocaster Relic.” Since the original spec is a relic finish, it’s hard to describe—there are virtually no signs of serious wear, so you might even find it looking surprisingly clean for a relic.There are slight signs of wear on the 7th through 9th frets, but since the wear is minimal, it might be best to wait until significant wear has spread across the entire fretboard before performing a fret repair.Since this model is equipped with Jim Dunlop’s classic and reliable No. 6100 jumbo frets, rather than rushing into a fretting repair, we recommend playing in your preferred style for a while to assess the extent of wear before deciding on any repairs.Despite the guitar’s rugged appearance, the sound produced by its control layout—featuring Dual Mag pickups, an ST Blender, and a Tone Saver—is remarkably nuanced, resulting in a finish that allows for versatile tone shaping.
