Based on the 1970s Les Paul Deluxe, this Custom Shop model faithfully replicates the modified specifications used by Pete Townshend of The Who.Its defining feature is a three-pickup configuration—featuring a Goldtop finish with two mini-humbuckers and an additional humbucker in the center position—enabling versatile sound shaping with coil tap and phase switch functions. In addition to the clear projection and tight distortion characteristic of mini-humbuckers, it offers a wide range of tones that set it apart from standard Les Pauls, including rich tones when the center pickup is engaged and phase effects.Its sharply defined tone and unique attack—typical of ’70s-style guitars—are also major attractions, delivering a sound with a strong presence even during chord-based playing. Based on the #3 Goldtop—known as the guitar used by Townsend—this model combines collectible value with practicality.
There are signs of wear, including scratches, dents, paint chips, and sticker residue.
The master tone knob has been replaced (original part included).
