USED Gibson / LG-2 Rebuilt 1958 Sunburst [12]

This LG-2, stamped with a 1958 serial number on the neck block, has arrived with some issues.

As indicated by the term "rebuilt," this particular instrument arrived at our shop with the back, all bracing, binding, and other components completely detached, leaving it in a disassembled state.

A professional repair technician reassembled and adjusted it, giving it a new life as a "rebuilt" instrument.

Each brace has its original position number written in marker. One auxiliary brace next to the X-brace on the 1st string side is missing, but since there is no current model of the same size, strength is not an issue.
Additionally, during reassembly, various issues were resolved, including overall crack repairs, fixing the top's bulge, and shaving down the bridge surface height accordingly.
Regarding the parts: the nut, saddle, bridge, and endpin have been replaced, and the frets have been refretted. The original pickguard is included, but due to warping and damage, it was in no condition to be reattached and has been replaced with a new one.
The finish has been polished throughout, giving it a fine appearance.

The sound, likely originally very lively and dynamic due to age and playing, now has a slightly compressed feel.
This is likely unavoidable given the instrument's original condition.
Nevertheless, its quick response that faithfully reflects the player's nuances and its overall cohesion are truly remarkable.

For those seeking vintage instruments without strict concerns about originality or condition, this could be a welcome find.
The bridge is lifted, but repairing it with adhesive is currently difficult. Since any repair would require rebuilding the bridge, we've left it as-is to preserve its originality.
Overall, it bears numerous scratches, dents, paint chips, and crack repair marks, giving it a well-lived-in appearance.

Condition Grade: B+: Some scratches present, but no issues for normal use.
