The L-4 from Custom Crimson, the pinnacle of the Gibson Custom Shop, has arrived!
Established in 2012 within the Gibson Custom Shop, “Custom Crimson” is a division where a handful of skilled craftsmen create primarily archtop guitars at a boutique workshop level.

From the hand-selection of premium-grade woods to the beautiful inlay work crafted from mother-of-pearl and abalone, and the meticulously layered binding, Custom Crimson excels in Gibson’s traditional craftsmanship and innovative techniques—you’ll truly appreciate their exceptional skill when you see and touch the instrument in person.

The guitar features a spruce top with a stunning grain pattern, paired with mahogany for the sides and back. Unlike typical hollow-body models that use thin laminated wood, the spruce top and mahogany back are carved from solid blocks, and the mahogany sides are, of course, also solid.The mahogany neck features a jet-black ebony fingerboard, and mother-of-pearl is used generously for the headstock inlay and fingerboard inlays.

You can enjoy the sublime jazz tone produced by the superb craftsmanship of the finest woods and woodworking techniques.
Overall, there are scratches and dents, some tarnish and verdigris on the metal parts, and the leather on the hard case handle has deteriorated and is peeling.
The frets have more than 70% of their original depth remaining, the neck is in good condition, and the truss rod is adjustable.
