Yanagisawa Tenor Saxophone T-3
Serial Number 3365336
Lacquer finish, no High F# key; Yanagisawa’s first tenor saxophone, introduced in 1954. This particular instrument is believed to have been manufactured around 1965.
Repairs have been made to a cracked bell and dents in the bell and U-tube, so repair marks remain.
In addition to solder repairs on the Eb key guard, the instrument shows signs of wear typical of a well-used instrument, including scratches, lacquer peeling, discoloration, rust, and repair marks resulting from normal use and aging.
Instead of the expected “T-3” engraving, it is marked “A-3”—likely due to a manufacturing error at the time—making it a rare instrument in its own right.
While the octave and table keys have quite a bit of quirkiness in terms of operation and intonation, you can enjoy a deep, powerful sound that modern instruments simply cannot produce.
Repair details: Disassembly, cleaning, and washing; replacement of all pads; replacement of 17 defective rubber parts; replacement of the neck cork; dent repair (bell, bell break, U-tube); soldering of the Eb key guard; balance adjustment; re-lubrication with oil and grease
Condition: B+: Some minor scratches, but no issues for normal use
