The “Tim Commerford Passive StingRay” was born out of a close collaboration with Tim Commerford, the bassist known for his work with Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and 7D7D.
This signature model combines the high level of craftsmanship unique to Ernie Ball Music Man with the practical specifications Tim sought.
Featuring an ash body, roasted maple neck, and ebony fingerboard, it delivers the powerful attack and rich tone characteristic of the StingRay.

Its most distinctive feature, as the model name suggests, is its passive circuitry.
Without an active EQ, it delivers a natural and dynamic sound that directly conveys the player’s touch and nuances.

Furthermore, the neodymium humbucking pickups and 3-way rotary switch allow you to switch between parallel, single-coil, and series configurations.
It also features a passive gain boost function via a push-button volume control, offering a wide range of sound variations.

Its striking appearance, featuring a Fight Night White finish, a parchment pickguard, and a matching headstock, is another key attraction.
Tim’s attention to detail is evident throughout, with features such as a height-adjustable custom finger ramp, a string-through bridge with a red mute pad, black hardware, and a custom neck plate.

This is Tim Commerford’s signature model, the culmination of his passion, combining the direct sound unique to passive pickups with the distinctive presence of the StingRay.
