PRS Swamp Ash Specialは、ボディ材にスワンプ・アッシュを使用し、Bolt-Onシリーズの中でも独特のルックスとサウンド・ヴァリエーションを兼ね備えています。そしてピックアップはH-S-H(ハムバッカー/“シングル”/ハムバッカー)配列を採用し、58/15 LTピックアップ2基に加え、ミドル・ポジションにPRS Narrowfieldを搭載。Narrowfieldはハムバッカー構造を持ちつつも、シングル・コイル特有の歯切れの良いサウンドを生み出します。コントロール・セクションは、このモデルとしては初の組み合わせとなるボリューム、トーン、5-wayブレード・スイッチ、そしてコイル・タップ用の2つのミニ・トグル・スイッチを採用。トーンを絞り気味にした時の太く甘いサウンドから、全開にした時の芯のある煌びやかなサウンドまで、12種類の多彩なサウンド・メイキングを実現しました。
22フレット、25インチ・スケールのメイプル・ネック、ローズウッド指板、PRSオリジナル・トレモロ、そしてPhase IIIチューナーを採用し、ハムバッカー・ピックアップとシングル・コイル・ピックアップを搭載したモデルによく見られる、ピックアップを切り替えた時に音量差がないことは、このモデルの大きな魅力のひとつです。

The PRS Swamp Ash Special uses swamp ash for the body material and has a unique look and sound variation among the Bolt-On series. The pickups are arranged in H-S-H (humbucker/"single"/humbucker) configuration, with two 58/15 LT pickups and a PRS Narrowfield in the middle position. The Narrowfield has a humbucker construction, but still produces the crisp sound of a single coil. The control section features the first combination of volume, tone, and 5-way blade switch for this model, as well as two mini-toggle switches for coil tapping. The new model offers 12 different sound-making options, ranging from a fat, sweet sound when the tone is turned down to a shimmering, core sound when the tone is fully open.
The 22-fret, 25" scale maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, original PRS tremolo, and Phase III tuners allow the guitarist to switch between humbucker and single coil pickups when the pickups are switched, as is often the case with models equipped with humbucker pickups and single coil pickups. The lack of volume difference is one of the main attractions of this model.
The PRS Swamp Ash Special is a model that can be used in a wide range of genres from country to blues to jazz, with its sound characteristics of tight bass and transparent yet luscious treble, producing a pleasant twangy sound.
