Andy Timmons captivates countless guitarists with his technical playing that transcends genres, ranging from jazz and fusion to country and rock. Now, his signature model, the “AT100CL,” is here.

First released as a limited-edition model in 1999, the AT100 remains highly popular today, partly due to its limited production run. Andy himself has been a longtime fan of this model, and there have been numerous requests for its re-release. The new AT100CL was developed through extensive discussions with Ibanez based on Andy’s specific requests. It retains the charm of the original model while featuring refined details.

◆ DiMarzio The Cruiser / AT-1 Pickups

The neck and middle positions feature DiMarzio The Cruiser pickups, while the bridge position is equipped with the signature DiMarzio AT-1 pickup.

The Cruiser employs a parallel humbucking configuration to suppress noise while delivering a bright, clear sound reminiscent of a single-coil pickup. This pickup combination supports Andy’s signature expressive tones, ranging from delicate clean tones to driven sounds.

◆ Wilkinson-Gotoh VSVG Tremolo Bridge

The tremolo unit features the Wilkinson-Gotoh VSVG. It offers stable operation and supports low-profile setups, balancing smooth tremolo arm action with excellent playability.

◆ Gotoh Magnum Lock Machine Heads w/H.A.P.

The machine heads feature Gotoh’s Magnum Lock, renowned for its tuning stability.

Additionally, they feature the H.A.P. (Height Adjustable Post) mechanism, which allows the height of each post to be adjusted individually for each string. This makes it easy to achieve the optimal tension for each string, supporting stable tuning and a comfortable playing experience.

◆ The Charm and Evolution Inherited from the AT100

While retaining the look and playability of the original AT100, the AT100CL features a revised control layout. It has evolved from the traditional 2-volume, 1-tone configuration to a 1-volume, 2-tone setup.

In addition to the master volume, it features tone controls for the front and middle pickups as well as the rear pickup, allowing for precise tone adjustments for each position. This highly practical configuration caters to Andy’s playing style, which places great importance on subtle nuances.

The neck maintains a moderate thickness while ensuring playability that allows for smooth fingering. It accommodates a wide range of playing styles, from technical phrases to delicate touches and expressive bends.

The pickups combine the DiMarzio The Cruiser and AT-1—Andy’s favorites—to deliver a sound that blends brilliance with warmth. From the transparency of clean tones to the rich harmonics when distorted, this guitar offers a wide range of tonal possibilities.
