“Paradise in Art” / Steve Vai’s New Signature Model, the “PIA3761”

The pinnacle of guitar craftsmanship as envisioned by guitarist Steve Vai!!
Steve himself describes the “PIA3761” signature model—which he named “PIA: Paradise in Art”—as “the evolution of the JEM.”
While the body is made of alder, just like the JEM, the body design incorporates new, meticulous details in the body edges, contours, and horns.

Perhaps the most striking feature of the PIA is the grip design, which resembles two flower petals nestled together.
Steve sees this as a visual representation of two things coming together to create a synergistic effect, and he considers it an important symbol of unity, friendship, and solidarity between people.

In addition to the Tree of Life inlay—a trademark of the JEM series—this guitar features a new inlay designed exclusively for the PIA, drawing on the elegant and beautiful botanical imagery that frequently appears in Steve’s own art.
The fingerboard is made of rosewood, and the side position markers feature glow-in-the-dark Luminlay.

It features a scalloped fingerboard that is shaped to scoop out the high-fret area.
The frets are jumbo-sized stainless steel frets treated with the Prestige Fret Edge Treatment.

These custom pickups were engineered based on the tonal direction Steve has favored in recent years, aiming for smoother highs, scooped mids, and a defined low end.
All pickup covers feature beautiful ornamentation that perfectly matches the guitar’s design concept.

The Edge, Ibanez’s original tremolo system, has been a favorite of Steve’s for over 30 years.
In addition to the easy access to the saddle adjustment bolts, the Lions’ Claw cavity design—a signature feature—is incorporated, just as it is on the JEM models.

The cavity plate on the back of the tremolo, shaped like a petal, is screwless and can be easily attached or removed.

The grip is made of lightweight yet durable carbon graphite; its light weight and thick, easy-to-grip design enable precise tremolo arm control.
