YAMAHA / BB734A Matte Translucent Black [03]

A versatile model with switchable active/passive modes! The Yamaha “BB734A”!

For over 40 years, the Yamaha BB Series has consistently pursued the sounds and features demanded by the music scene of each era, earning continued acclaim from top bassists around the world.
The “BB734A,” the 4-string flagship model of the “BB700 Series,” is an exceptionally versatile instrument featuring dramatically improved body resonance, a 3-band active EQ, and an active/passive switch.

The body features a three-ply alder/maple/alder construction. The hard maple core produces rich midrange tones and a robust core, delivering superb body resonance that never gets lost in a band ensemble.Furthermore, the “mitered bolting” method—where the neck is bolted into the back of the body at a 45-degree angle—combined with a 5-piece maple and mahogany neck, minimizes string vibration loss to the absolute minimum, resulting in overwhelming sustain and high rigidity.

The pickups feature the proprietary “YGD Custom V7 (Alnico V)” in a PJ layout. Designed to deliver not only a delicate, wide-range active tone but also to ensure no volume drop when switching to passive mode, the treble pot functions seamlessly as the master tone control in passive mode.
Packed with practical features that truly shine in modern stage and recording environments, such as a “Convertible Bridge” that lets you choose between through-body and through-back wiring, lightweight tuners that prevent headstock tilt, and a rear LED indicator that shows remaining battery life.
