A new Japanese-made FG/FS model featuring a Sitka spruce top and a dovetail neck joint! The “FS7RX”!

Inheriting the design philosophy of the flagship “FG/FS9,” the “FS7RX”—a high-end Japanese-made model meticulously handcrafted at the Hamamatsu factory in Shizuoka Prefecture for singer-songwriters and other performers—has arrived.

Featuring a concert-style body that boasts excellent sound separation and responsiveness, it incorporates a solid Sitka spruce top with a clear resonance, along with solid Indian rosewood sides and back that produce deep bass and rich overtones.
It combines scalloped X-bracing—specially designed based on Yamaha’s proprietary acoustic analysis technology, “Acoustic Design”—with a thicker back structure that supports a powerful tone. The neck joint employs a traditional dovetail joint, delivering a light, resonant sound and pleasant sustain from the neck to the body.

The fingerboard is crafted from ebony, known for its quick response, and the tuning machines feature high-precision open-gear Gotoh models. Furthermore, elegant details inspired by Japanese aesthetics are scattered throughout the instrument, including an internal label made of washi paper, rope purfling evoking shimenawa (sacred straw ropes), and position marks inspired by traditional Japanese wood joinery.
The electronics feature the highly acclaimed “Atmosfeel (SYSTEM74)” 3-way pickup system. By combining a piezo, microphone, and contact sensor, it delivers the natural airiness and dynamics of the acoustic sound directly to an amplifier or line input.
