USED FENDER JAPAN (-2015) / FB-555 Frost White Frost White [03]

A used Fender Japan FB-555 has arrived—a model with a uniquely distinctive look even among Fender Japan's long history!

This FB-555 was produced for only a short time in the mid-1980s as part of Fender Japan's original "BOXER" series. Its distinctive, un-Fender-like appearance really catches the eye.

Its compact, charmingly angular body is crafted from basswood. It features a one-piece maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard sporting 24 frets. The pickups also have a distinctive look. The covers clearly bear the "Fender" imprint, so these are undoubtedly original.
Even more distinctive are the controls. Alongside two volume knobs and a toggle switch (likely the pickup selector), the final control is the TBX control. Settings 0-5 function as a standard tone control, while 6-10 shift the sound towards a brighter, trebly character. While less familiar to bass players, this control is famously featured on Eric Clapton signature guitars.

Contrary to its appearance, the sound leans more vintage. It's a crisp, open sound where the high frequencies really shine, rather than emphasizing low or mid-range punch.

Signs of use are evident, including a strap pin installation mark on the horn near the 1st string, a large paint crack below the controls, and scattered scratches and dents throughout.
Additionally, the nut has been replaced with a brass one.
The neck condition is fine. The truss rod functions without issue.

This instrument is approximately 40 years old. With very few ever produced, it is an extremely rare piece. Don't miss this opportunity!
