New used models from LAKLAND’s renowned Japanese-made “Shoreline” series have just arrived!

LAKLAND is a high-end brand hailing from Chicago, USA. The Shoreline series, which uses the same parts and electronics as the USA models but is assembled in Japan—including woodworking and finishing—has arrived. Although production has now been discontinued, these models are so highly regarded that they immediately catch the eye of many fans whenever they appear on the used market.

The model we’ve received this time is the SL44-94 Deluxe, a flagship model of the Shoreline series.
It features a lightweight swamp ash body paired with a vibrant quilted maple top. The materials include a hard maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard. While the body shape is distinctive and charming with its rounded contours, it feels surprisingly natural when held—even compared to a standard JB-style guitar.
And the greatest strength of this model is likely its wide range of sound-shaping capabilities. The controls include a Master Volume knob, Pickup Balancer, 3-band EQ, and a 3-way toggle switch for coil tapping. Additionally, the Volume knob features a push/pull function to switch between active and passive modes.

The sound has a slightly forward-focused, wide-range midrange and gives an overall well-rounded impression. The EQ is very responsive, delivering high-quality sound across the entire frequency range, from clear highs to powerful lows. There’s no doubt this guitar will serve you well in a wide range of settings, from home recording to studio sessions and live performances.

While there are some minor scratches on the head, such as small dents and buckle marks, the guitar is in very good overall condition.
The neck is currently in good condition, indicating that the previous owner took great care in storing it.
However, the truss rod is currently about half a turn loose.
