USED Music Man / Stingray Bass, Black, 1979 [03]

Made in 1979. A Stingray from the Pre-Ernie era has arrived!!

Leo Fender, the creator of “Fender,” the original electric bass. Although Leo Fender stepped back from the front lines in 1970, he later launched MusicMan as a new brand in 1972. The StingRay was released in 1976.
This is a StingRay from the “Pre-Ernie” era, before the company was acquired by Ernie Ball.

In terms of condition, while the frets and nut have been replaced, the major parts have been preserved in their original state.
The fingerboard was refinished as part of the fret replacement.
The pickup pole pieces are short, and the preamp is the original molded unit from that era.
There are traces of a finger rest that was added to the 4th string side of the pickup.
The mute sponge has melted. The battery snap has been replaced.
There are two marks on the headstock top where a sticker—presumably bearing the previous owner’s name—was once affixed. These are only visible upon close inspection and are unlikely to be noticeable from a distance. Additionally, there are marks under the pickguard where a sticker appears to have been attached.
The truss rod is on the stiff side and the neck is slightly arched, but it is currently set up to standard string height and presents no issues for playing.
