It plays! A 1996 Hummingbird!
The Hummingbird can be considered a pioneer of stylish acoustic guitars. This particular instrument was made at the Bozeman, Montana factory, but unlike the current standard model, it is not equipped with a pickup.
The top, back, and both sides of the headstock feature bold weather checking, and there are cracks in the finish around the Gibson logo and crown inlays on the headstock, as well as at the joint between the neck heel and the back.There are scattered dents, scratches, scuffs, and areas of dulled finish; the plating on the metal parts has lost its luster, and there is some chipping of the finish on the top of the headstock. However, overall, the appearance is consistent with the instrument’s age. Additionally, part of the pattern on the pickguard has faded due to picking.
While there is some inconsistency in the torque of some tuning pegs, this does not interfere with tuning. Our repair department has performed fret leveling and repaired loose bracing. The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod has been tested to move 60 degrees in both directions. Approximately 80% of the original fret height remains. Both playability and sound are excellent.
It comes with the original hard case. The vinyl-leather exterior has some peeling, and there is some wear, such as rust on the metal parts, but this does not affect its practical use.
The guitar has aged naturally, and true to its appearance, the tone has matured beautifully, producing a bold, resonant sound. This is a “player’s condition” instrument you can enjoy playing without hesitation.
