USED SADOWSKY NYC / Vintage 4-String J Bass [03]

We’ve just received a used model of Sadowsky’s top-of-the-line, NYC-made series!

The Sadowsky story began in 1979 when Roger Sadowsky, who had been working as a repair technician in Philadelphia, struck out on his own.
In the early 1980s, he began crafting instruments himself, and the brand became a favorite among New York studio musicians and renowned professional musicians.

The model we’ve just received is the classic “Vintage 4-string J Bass,” featuring the familiar compact “Dinky” shape with a pickguard and control plate.
Based on the date listed on the certificate of authenticity, it is believed to have been manufactured around 2013.

It features an ash body and a maple fingerboard—the classic materials for a JB-style bass.
The body is chambered, resulting in an extremely lightweight instrument weighing just 3.61 kg, making it exceptionally easy to handle even during long performances.

From sparkling highs to clear, full-bodied lows, the sound it produces is quintessentially Sadowsky.

The neck and frets are in excellent condition, and the instrument is still in great playing shape.
Overall, there are some signs of use; in addition to small dents on the body surface, the metal parts—including the control plate—show some tarnish.
It appears that a battery compartment has been retrofitted to the back of the body.

Plug it into an amp, and you’ll hear that unmistakable sound.
NYC guitars have become quite hard to come by in Japan these days.
