USED GIBSON USA / 1989 Les Paul Standard, Wine Red [04]

We have received a used 1989 Les Paul Standard in Wine Red.

Based on its serial number “83389534” and its specifications, this guitar is believed to have been manufactured in 1989. It features a mahogany body, a three-piece maple top, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. This classic configuration allows you to fully enjoy the rich mid-to-low frequencies and smooth sustain characteristic of a Les Paul.

It is equipped with what appear to be original “Gibson USA The Original HB-R / HB-L” pickups featuring printed circuit boards.The pot dates are Rhythm Vol “1378938,” Rhythm Tone “R1378948,” Lead Vol “1378938,” and Lead Tone “R1378948.” Since all of these can be interpreted as 1989, we have determined that these are original parts.

The tuning machines are Kluson-type with a “GIBSON DELUXE” two-line engraving.
The bridge is an ABR-1 type with saddle-retaining wires, bearing the engraving “GIBSON PAT. NO. 2,740,313.” The tailpiece is a steel stopbar.

The nut and frets are believed to be original.

The remaining fret height is approximately 1.0 mm to 1.1 mm, retaining about 60% of its original height. The neck is in good condition and has a slight forward bow. Although the string action is currently set low—approximately 1.5 mm on the 6th string and 1.2 mm on the 1st string—there is no buzzing or muffled sound, and playability is good.

Externally, it shows signs of wear commensurate with its age, with scratches, scuffs, and dents visible in various places. Sun-faded marks from a sticker are visible on the pickguard. Additionally, while the pickup mounting rings and control knobs have been replaced, the original parts are included. The original mounting ring has a crack on the rear side; please check the product images for details.

This guitar strongly retains the characteristics typical of a late 1980s Les Paul Standard. Weighing 4.77 kg, it is a solid instrument that allows you to fully enjoy the authentic Gibson sound of that era.
