The Esquire is the predecessor to the Telecaster, which debuted in 1950 as the world’s first solid-body electric guitar. After undergoing numerous specification changes, it became known as the Telecaster around 1951 and went on to be cherished by many guitarists as a legendary model.

Until around 1959, the neck was made of maple; however, since maple tended to wear down easily, rosewood was added to the lineup as a fingerboard option. This proved popular and added warmth to the classic Telecaster tone.

The American Vintage '62 Custom Telecaster features an alder body with double binding and a plywood pickguard, which distinguishes it from its predecessor in the Butterscotch finish.
True to the original, it features a C-shaped maple neck, a 7.25-inch radius rosewood fingerboard, dual “’62 Custom Telecaster” single-coil pickups, a vintage Telecaster bridge with screw-in steel saddles, and the original Telecaster circuit with a 3-position switch.

This guitar has numerous signs of wear from extensive use, including scratches, dents, and discoloration or rust on the finish and parts; however, it is fully functional. The frets show wear marks from fingering up to around the 1st to 6th frets, with approximately 80% of the original fretting surface remaining. The truss rod is currently set slightly tight but can be adjusted in both directions.
