A 1998 Fender Japan / ST-165VR See-Through Black Sunburst has arrived in stock.

This is a Signature Model for The Ventures, produced from 1996 to 1999.

This Stratocaster is the “Jerry McGee” model—named after Jerry McGee, who, while best known for his work with The Ventures, participated in countless sessions starting in the 1960s, and whose playing can be heard on various classic albums.
We also carry Don Wilson’s Jazzmaster and Bob Bogle’s Jazz Bass in our lineup.

Packed with unique features befitting a signature model, it boasts a distinctive See-Through Black Sunburst finish with gold hardware, Race Sensor pickups, Sombrero knobs, and The Ventures logo on the headstock.

The controls consist of one volume knob, a TBX tone control, and an active mid-boost—along with the aforementioned pickups—revealing the influence of the Eric Clapton model, which Jerry McGee himself favored.

It features a maple neck with a bound neck and block position marks, a 7.25"R fingerboard radius, and 22 frets with a raised edge.

Visually, there are some minor scratches and the gold hardware has lost some of its luster, but considering its age, it shows very little wear and is in clean condition.

Although there is still some adjustment range left on the truss rod, the cross-slot nut was cracked and has been replaced with a hex nut.

Perhaps because it wasn’t played very often, the frets show almost no wear and are still in good playing condition.
The neck shows a slight amount of lift, but with the current standard string height setting, there is no muffling of the sound.

It comes with the original black Tolex case (expired).
