USED Gibson / Southern Jumbo 2018 [05]

The 2018 Gibson Southern Jumbo Vintage Sunburst is now in stock.

The Southern Jumbo went on sale in 1942 and was introduced as a higher-end model of the already popular J-45 at the time.

As the name suggests, the instrument was designed to be the choice of instrumentalists who played country and blues in the southern part of the United States (Dixie area), and featured the ornate decorations found on banjos and other instruments.
Some fans say it has a more sparkling sound than the J-45 due to the decorative materials, which are harder than the wood.
The J-45 features such specifications as parallelogram inlays, multi-layer binding, neck binding, and a large pickguard.

The basic construction of the body is similar to that of the J-45, with a spruce top, mahogany back, sides, and neck, and rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
This instrument was made in 2018, and minor scuffs and dings have occurred throughout the body, and the metal parts are dull.

The center of the lower part of the body top bridge has been corrected to stop splitting (hit wood correction), the bracing has been glued and the pickguard has been glued.
There are some paint cracks on the cracks in the top part of the body, but this will be delivered as is.

The neck has a slight tendency to warp and twist, but there are no playability issues.
L.R. Baggs Element pickups are installed for live performance.

This Southern Jumbo is in player's condition and is recommended for those who want to play it hard and use it as much as possible.
