1976 Howard Roberts Custom is now in stock.

Howard Roberts was a jazz guitarist and session guitarist who left behind many great performances.
In the 1960s, signature models were created by Epiphone, and in the 1970s, he shifted to Gibson.

There were four different models at the time, including the Custom that we have in stock, and it is evident that Gibson was putting a lot of effort into developing these guitars at the time.
The Custom was first produced in 1973, and the one we have in stock was made in 1976, so it is an early to mid-period model.

The laminated maple body is 31/4" thick and 16" wide, making it easy to hold.
The neck is 3-piece maple, which was used in many models in the 70s. The volutes on the back of the head also give a sense of the era.
The pegs are Shaller keystone type mounted with GIBSON engraving.

The head has a gorgeous flower inlay embedded in it, and the position marks are also of a unique shape.
The soundhole is a rather small oval shape, and the tailpiece is the original style with the letters Howard Roberts engraved on it.
A similar style tailpiece to that of Trini Lopez's model is also installed here.

The main feature of this model is the controls.
One pickup mounted on the neck end has one volume and two tones.
Each tone has a different effect, allowing the player to create a very specific sound.

The pickguard is missing, but many of the major parts are original. The bridge has been replaced, but the original is still included.

More than 30 years have already passed since Howard Roberts passed away, and this guitar will become more and more valuable in the future.

1976年製Howard Roberts Customが入荷いたしました。

ジャズ･ギタリスト、セッション･ギタリストとして数々の名演を残したハワード･ロバーツ。
60年代はエピフォンよりシグネチャーモデルが誕生し、70年代からはギブソンへと移行。

入荷したCustom含め当時は4種類のモデルが存在し、当時のギブソンが力を入れて展開していた事が伺えます。
Customは1973年より生産が開始されており、入荷した個体は76年製の為、初期から中期にかけての個体となります。

ラミネイト･メイプルのボディー厚は31/4インチ、幅は16インチと抱えやすいサイズ感。
ネックは70年代の多くのモデルで採用されていた3ピース･メイプル。ヘッド裏のボリュートも時代を感じさせてくれます。
ペグはShaller製のキーストーンタイプをマウントしておりGIBSONの刻印が入れられています。

ヘッドには豪華なフラワーインレイが埋め込まれており、ポジションマークも独特な形状のものを採用。
サウンドホールはやや小振りなオーバル型でテールピースにはHoward Robertsの文字が刻まれたオリジナルスタイル。
トリニ･ロペスのモデルと似たスタイルのテールピースがこちらにも取り付けられています。

このモデルの最大の特徴はコントロール。
ネックエンドに取り付けられたピックアップ１つに対し1ボリューム/2トーンという変わった仕様。
トーンはそれぞれ効き方が異なっており、弾き手によって細かいな音作りが可能となっています。

ピックガードが欠品していますが主要なパーツはオリジナルを多く残しており、ブリッジは交換されていますがオリジナルが付属しています。

ハワード･ロバーツが亡くなってから既に30年以上が経過しており、今後益々貴重になっていくギターです。
