アメリカの Keas Electronics という会社によって設立された ROSS ブランド。
"ROSS COMPRESSOR"という名前を一度は耳にしたことがある方も多いでしょう。
MXR DynaComp と並んで非常に人気を集めた ROSS コンプレッサーは、現代のコンプレッサーの原点と言っても過言ではありません。
ちなみに、ROSS というブランド名はオーナーである Bud Ross に由来するというのは有名な話です。
ROSS COMPRESSOR が誕生したのは1978年。
当時からグレーの筐体と独特の雰囲気を持ったコンプレッサーでした。
初期モデルには SUSTAIN と OUTPUT の2つのコントロールがあり、その生産数は非常に少なかったため、ヴィンテージとしての価値が高まっています。
他のコンプレッサーと比べるとやや「パコパコ」した鳴りがありますが、非常にナチュラルな効き方が特徴です。
本機は SUSTAIN が初期仕様のモデルで、オペアンプには RCA CA3080E が使用されています。
コントロール表記が「SUSTAIN」と「OUTPUT」であることから、1978年製のファーストモデルと考えられています。

ROSS / COMPRESSOR (1978 model) has arrived!
The ROSS brand was established by the American company Keas Electronics.
Many of you have likely heard the name "ROSS COMPRESSOR" at least once.
Alongside the MXR DynaComp, the ROSS compressor gained immense popularity and can truly be called the origin of modern compressors.
Incidentally, it's well known that the brand name "ROSS" originates from its owner, Bud Ross.
The ROSS COMPRESSOR was born in 1978.
Even back then, it was a compressor with a distinctive gray chassis and unique character.
Early models featured two controls: SUSTAIN and OUTPUT. Production numbers were extremely low, making them highly valuable as vintage gear.
Compared to other compressors, it has a slightly "popping" sound, but its characteristic is a very natural effect.
This unit is an early-spec model with the SUSTAIN control, utilizing RCA CA3080E op-amps.
The control labels "SUSTAIN" and "OUTPUT" indicate this is likely a first-generation model manufactured in 1978.
