A 1974 Gibson Les Paul Standard has just arrived!!

The Les Paul is Gibson’s flagship model, with production having resumed in 1968.
At that time, the Custom and Deluxe models were the main production models, and only 216 Standard models were produced irregularly between 1972 and 1974.
Subsequently, 2,000 units were produced in 1974 as a limited edition, and mass production resumed in 1976.

Based on the serial number, this particular guitar was manufactured between 1970 and 1975.
All of the pots are original 1974 parts, leading us to conclude that this guitar was manufactured in 1974.

It features a pancake body and a three-piece mahogany neck—a wood configuration unique to this period.
The volute-shaped headstock and neck—a design intended to enhance neck strength—is one of the defining features of the 1970s.
A “2” is stamped above the serial number on the back of the headstock, confirming that this instrument was shipped as a “second-grade” model at the time.

The machine heads (tunes) are KLUSON DELUXE double-line, two-knob models.
Although they do not bear the “GIBSON” stamp, the fact that the base plate is stamped with a motif resembling a plant leaf confirms that these are parts from the same era, so it cannot be definitively concluded that they are non-genuine.
Since KLUSON models with this specific stamp are rarely found on the market, this one is certainly a valuable piece.

Both pickups are original, sticker-numbered PAFs.
The capacitors are original, dating from the 1970s.

Additionally, the bridge is stamped with “Gibson PAT. NO. 2.740.313,” making this a guitar with a high degree of originality overall.

Although the logo on the included case has faded, its shape suggests it is a Gibson product, and the interior coloring matches many features of cases used during that era.
Since there is no definitive proof, we will list it as a non-genuine hard case.

From the body to the neck, there is a mix of areas that retain their original luster from that era and areas where the finish has worn off due to years of use. While it does show signs of wear consistent with its long history, its appearance suggests it has been carefully maintained over the years.

This 1974 model is particularly rare among 1970s Standard guitars. We hope you’ll consider it.
