The Ibanez AZ was developed for guitarists with a Rock/Metal/Fusion background in pursuit of versatility for any performance situation.

Since its release, however, the 7-string model, with its high playability, rich tone, wide range, and versatility in any situation, has been longed for by guitarists of various genres as well as metal players.

In 2021, Ibanez pioneered the multi-string guitar with the introduction of two AZ-7 models. The AZ-7 is a new generation of 7-string guitars that incorporates nearly 30 years of expertise in the development and manufacture of multi-string guitars, as well as the resources, specs, and rules of thumb gained through the creation of the AZ.

The pickups on this guitar have been replaced with Seymour Duncan SENTIENT-7 front PU and Seymour Duncan NAZGUL-7 rear PU.
