The latest arrival is the “JB-4A.” It’s an exquisite model that combines the Jazz Bass style with an active preamp. Alongside the JB-4 Classic, this series is highly regarded as one of Moon’s signature models.

The materials include a 2-piece white ash body, a maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard.The finish appears to be polyester. It’s equipped with Moon’s original OXAIS-JB pickups and features the Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. This preamp delivers strong low-end presence throughout the frequency range while still suiting a punchy, bright sound—it’s a flawless preamp with no weaknesses. As a well-known staple among onboard preamps, many of you are likely already familiar with it.

The sound is characteristically Moon—well-rounded and perfectly balanced. The quality is outstanding, more than worthy of professional use. The ash and ebony combination, which offers both clarity and richness, pairs exceptionally well with the OBP-3. The tone is natural yet substantial—truly solid and robust.

Overall, there are few scratches or signs of wear on the parts, and it shows minimal signs of use.
However, the truss rod is a bit stiff, and there’s very little room left to tighten it further.
Currently, the neck presents no issues.
