The BB400 series is the core of Yamaha’s BB lineup. This classic passive 4-string model features an alder body, a 5-piece maple/mahogany neck, and YGD Custom V5 (Alnico V) P/J pickups.

The front pickup delivers thick, punchy, Precision-style bass tones, while the rear pickup offers a clear, Jazz-style attack. Depending on the blend, it handles a wide range of genres from rock and pop to funk. Combined with the high neck rigidity provided by the 6-bolt miter joint, it offers a stable tone with excellent response and sustain.
The tuners were defective upon arrival and have been replaced with equivalent parts. Additionally, there are picking marks on the pickguard, and while scratches are visible across the body back, they are particularly concentrated near the end. Furthermore, upon closer inspection, there are shallow dents on the 4th string horn of the body top and around the bridge—though not very noticeable—indicating that this item shows some signs of use. This is a pre-owned instrument that has been fully adjusted and cleaned, so you can use it with confidence.
